Well I've been in Japan for a week now. I'm in a district called Itami. It's a little city of about 200,000 people. There are six other interns besides me in the program. They are from all over the US. The missionary family running the intern program is has been in Japan for 17 years. 

Basically what we are going to be doing this summer is going to different universities and pockets of people to build relationships with Japanese college students. Hopefully, we will be able to share the gospel at some point during the relationships. We're also helping out with the short term teams that come for a couple of weeks. This week we went to three universities. The first one is Konan university. It's a beautiful campus surrounded by low mountains. Charlie knows one of the english teachers there. Her name is Sono-sensei and she is a Christian. She has invited our team into her classes in order to help them with english but also so we can build relationships with them. At first it was difficult for us girls to meet people because the girls were pretty shy. The guys seemed to have an easier time with making friends. The second day was more promising with the last class of girls. Some of the girls have texted us and indicated that they want to hang out with us sometime. Later this week we went to two other universities in the area. These were more difficult because basically we have no contacts at the university. It's difficult to just walk up to a group of people you don't know and try and meet people. They kinda look at you funny.

Japan is a country steeped in tradition. Their loyalties to their families and religion run deep. I know that this summer will be difficult and the spiritual warfare will be intense. Charlie has modeled our strategy off of Luke 10. We call it P.O.P. - Practice of Prayer, Pockets of People, Power of Presence, Person of Peace, and People of Purpose. We're going to go into groups of people to find a person of peace, who is receptive to us and hopefully the gospel. If they accept Christ then we move on to discipleship. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would direct us to the people of peace. Also pray that we would listen to the Holy Spirit and his guidance.
